Courier Times on Pence's appearance at New Castle Middle School
The Courier Times mentions Congressman Pence's appearance at the New Castle Middle School Career Day here (subscription needed). Excerpts appear below:
...Pence began the day by encouraging and challenging students to make the most of their lives using both opportunity and character. "The great miracle of America is that anybody can be anybody," he said.
He said that people are judged by what they have done and that dreams can be achieved through hard work, studying and making the right choices. The Congressman cautioned students that decisions made now and in the high school years - personally, academically and morally - will determine their futures.
Pence said while it's a popular notion to believe that adversity breeds character, he doesn't see it that way. "Adversity reveals character." He challenged the middle school students to become men and women of integrity and faith....
