Noonan lauds Pence, Mccain on the campaign trail
Here an excerpt:
"It's hard to find the dance this year. On the stump Barack Obama shows pleasure, a lower form of the dance. So does Republican Rep. Mike Pence, who says he's a conservative 'but not in a bad mood about it.' John McCain can dance. In one week he wowed college kids on 'Hardball,' bopped Hillary Clinton, and announced that if Republicans lose Congress he'll 'commit suicide.' Translation: I love Republicans, and if they lose I'll be fine!"

Forbes: Congress should enact Pence-Cantor Capital Gains Legislation
Steve Forbes writes about the Pence-Cantor Capital Gains Legislation in this article.
Here is an excerpt:
"Representatives Mike Pence (R--Ind.) and Eric Cantor (R--Va.) have introduced legislation that would tie the cost basis of an asset to the GDP deflator. Thus, if the index doubled over ten years, so would the tax basis of this asset: A share bought today for $10 would have an adjusted cost of $20.
"If this feckless Congress doesn't enact Pence-Cantor soon, the White House should be bold and institute indexing by executive order. After all, it was a Treasury ruling, not congressional legislation, that in 1913 decreed the cost basis of an asset would be 'historic' rather than 'real.' (That was not an unreasonable ruling at the time, given that the dollar was fixed to gold.) Democrats will howl and the issue will go to the courts--but the point will have been manifestly made."

WSJ editorial praises Pence-Cantor Capital Gains Legislation
Today's Wall Street Journal editorial praises Congressman Pence for his efforts in "introducing a bill to index capital gains for inflation."
Here is an excerpt:
"One useful idea comes courtesy of House Republicans Mike Pence and Eric Cantor, who recently introduced a bill to index capital gains for inflation. Income tax brackets have been adjusted for the cost of living ever since the Reagan tax cuts of 1981 -- a historic pro-growth victory. But capital gains continue to suffer from an inflation tax, which yields a windfall profit for the government but reduces the value of holding long-term capital assets."
