Senate to vote on marriage amendment today
As another hot and steamy day gets started in the nation's Capital, the debate inside the U.S. Senate chamber will continue to be just as heated as the weather. The debate on the Federal Marriage Amendment rages on with a vote scheduled for today.
Yesterday morning on the floor of the House, I stated that as a true conservative, I believe in conserving, protecting, and defending the foundational institutions of our society and of western civilization. Marriage was ordained by God, established by law and it’s the glue of the American family and the safest harbor to raise children.
While I wish we didn't need a Constitutional Amendment to tell us something we already know, I believe amending the Constitution is the only effective response to judicial activism at the state and federal level. My hope is the U.S. Senate will realize this as well. -MRP
